Ok, I'm sure some of you have been wondering where I've been. I'm still stamp (although not as much) and scrapping. I went back to school to get my masters in reading education so that seems to take up alot of my time. The first card here I made for a good friend of mine who just had a baby last week or should I say a toddler. He was 10lbs. 23in. long. He is just adorable. The second card I made a long time ago for my daughter. She went away to college and I made several cards to send and guess what. Yep, I still have them. I guess it was the thought that counted. (I did send some cards though). I also created another blog (if anyone is interested) for my classroom. I found some awesome teachers out there that inspired me to start my own school blog. You can get a million wonderful ideas just by looking at their blogs. Anyway, I will try to keep this up more often and as usual thanks for stopping by.

Isn't this little girl cute?! She is from MFT. I couldn't pass her up at the scrapbook store. This is the kind of day we are having around here. It stormed something fierce last night and this morning and now the sun (and humidity) is out. Woo hoo!! Anyway, I'm trying really hard to get my mojo back. I just love this little bird. I have no idea where it came from, it was in my scrap drawer with all my stamped images from a stamping night out with friends. Another cute little guy. He is from CTMH. I know it's a simple card but the boys who end up receiving this card really doesn't care what it looks like as long as there is money in it. This is a card I made for a friend of mine who retired from teaching with us. I made a bunch of cards for her as a gift. This was one of them. I knew she had several granddaughters this would be perfect for. So, I went downtown Chicago today to have lunch with some friends. I always seem to forget how awesome it is down there since I don't go very often. We had a great lunch and walked around somewhat. It's a whole different world downtown Chicago than it is in our small suburban town. If you are ever thinking of a vacation spot to go this is a good choice. Doesn't this look refreshing? It's only 9 a.m. and the humidity and heat is already on. What a way to spend the day at the old ballpark. We have 2 games scheduled for the day. Flower Help Needed!!

Does anyone know what kind of hanging plant this is? I purchased it at the local grocery store not realizing how beautiful it was going to be. It's so cool. It has these pink pods that look like onions and when they open up they are beautiful purple flowers. I've never even seen this kind of plant before. If anyone knows what it's called please let me know. We are all stumped around here. Well, we are off to the big university to register for classes. But first, the important stuff. I always liked this little guy and his friend. I made this card for my 6year old nephew's birthday. I'm sure he'll like it (especially if there is money in it). The image is a MFT image. We are in full summer mode now and we really haven't had a day without rain. One minute we are wearing shorts and the next minute we have sweatshirts on. The sun is out one minutte and then the clouds move in and it rains and the temps go down. I'm sure it's a matter of time before someone gets sick around here. Tomorrow we are heading to Eastern Illinois University to register for fall classes for the first time. Casey is soooo excited to be going away. Woo Hoo! Summer is Here!!

So, today was the last day of school. Woo Hoo! No more lesson plans (at least for a while), no more papers to grade, no more bulletin boards to change, no more getting up at the crack of dawn AND it's cold and rainy!! What a way to start the summer. Hopefully the rain won't last long and they are calling for high 80's by Thursday. Finally!! Here are two graduation cards I made for some of the many graduates. I try to use their school colors. The paper is all from SU and so is the stamp set. I'm really hoping to get quite a bit of stamping done and tons of scrapping. Casey had a great time at prom. She went with the same boy she took to homecoming her freshman year. What a difference from freshman year. The dresses were unbelievable. The color this year was blue. After checking out all the prom pictures blue was the most popular. So, this is what has been keeping me so busy lately along with high school baseball for Danny. Now its time to relax ( and get ready for college).

A good friend of mine is getting married and the shower is today. So here is the card I made to go with the gift we got her. Here is a card I made for my neighbor who was just diagnosed with breast cancer. The stamp set is from MFT. The pink paper is from SU and the rest is left over paper I had. I just wanted to let her know we are praying for her. Well, we're back in the swing of school again after the holidays and it feels like I never even had a break. However, we are off this coming Monday for MLK day. Yippee!! It sure sounds like I don't like going to school. That's not true. It's just nice to have a Monday off now and then. Patriotic Cards, Why Now?!

I'm sure you're wondering why these cards this time of year. Well, our kindergarten teacher's son joined the army and my class adopted him and will be sending him cards and pictures over the next many months. He came in to visit our class before Christmas and the kids were excited to meet him and put a face to the soldier we'll be sending things to. So here are some cards I made for his mom to send to him. I made several more cards and will post them as time goes on. They are not all patriotic. I'm sure he will appreciate any mail he receives. The kids are all excited to be sending letters to him.

Well, we here in Chicago are in for another major snowstorm tomorrow and the rest of the week. Of course, right when we all go back to school after the holidays. I wasn't feeling well the whole time off (severe migraines) and today is the first day I feel better and now I have to do school work, go figure! So I'm off to get something done. I Don't Do Mornings!!

I just love this image from Rubbernecker stamps. She's such a happy person!! If you haven't checked out their stamps you'll need to. I colored her in with my Prisma watercolors. The paper is SU and the floral paper is from my scrap drawer. the sentiment inside says, I don't do mornings, heck I don't do afternoons, either!
By the way, I did try pumpkin pie. You should have seen it. My aide set up two chairs in front of the class, one for me and one for the kindergarten teacher (who also hasn't tried it). We each had a forkful and chased it down with pop. The kids were histerical watching us. It wasn't a pretty sight and by the way, neither one of us liked it. I let one of the little girls come up and try it and when we gave her a forkful she held her nose. It was so funny to see a 6 year old holding her nose and trying to eat pumpkin pie. What a sight! Needless to say we have a ton of fun and laughs in our classroom (and yes, we do get work done)!

Woo, hoo!!

Believe it or not, we have one more day left of school before 2 weeks off. Woo, Hoo!!! I know, most of you are probably off by now and I am jealous. Don't ask me why we are still in, I don't know. However we dont go back until Wednesday the 6th. That's the good part. Anyway, here is another Christmas card very much like the last one. I really liked the paper and the stamp so I thought I might as well make all my cards with this paper. I really hoping to get alot of stamping done over break. I have quite a few orders to fill.
Okay, want to hear a good one?! The kids in my first grade class all agreed to try to eat something new at Thanksgiving dinner. I also agreed to try pumpkin pie, I have never even tried it because I think it looks just gross (I'm sure it's not). Well, the day came and went and I just couldn't come to taste it. Being the honest teacher I am, I admitted to my class that I didn't try it. So today one of the kids asked when I will try it and my most WONDERFUL aide and very dear friend offered to bring some pumpkin pie to school tomorrow for me to try in front of the class. I think I feel the flu coming on. What do you think?! So I'll let you know whether I tasted it, liked it or was grossed out by it. It should be an interesting day in first grade tomorrow.

I know, I know! You've seen this layout already. This is the same layout as the last Christmas card I posted but I really like the layout, it was an easy one to do and it's going to be my Christmas card this year. So all I did was change the paper and it gave it a whole new look. I say it's going to be my card for the season, that is if I get on the ball and make a bunch of them. My scrap room is in my basement and these days it is freezing outside therefore, the basement is also freezing. I need one of those snuggies to stay warm down here. I cased this layout from a card at Archivers. I've been known to take pictures of layouts at Archivers and Casey is totally mortified when I do that and she is with me. I just love embarrasing her. Tee, Hee!! We just came back from the Ronald McDonald house, here in the neighborhood. It was built last year and is just opened one year ago. It's such an awesome place, beautiful, warm and inviting for those families who stay there because they have a child at the hospital. I would love to work there. Casey's history class wanted to do something for them so 8 girls, their teacher and myself went and baked all kinds of goodies. The whole house smelled delicious. Every night they have someone who volunteered, to come in and cook dinner. They are booked with dinners until June. Isn't that awesome. We plan on going back again to bake in the spring. The girls had a great time and the people there so appreciated it. That's my plug for the Ronald McDonald house. So, here's my first holiday card of the season. I used all scraps I had in my scrap drawer (or should I say drawers). The Christmas tree image is from a dollar stamp from Michaels from last year. Those always seem to be the best stamps. Anyway, did everyone put up the holiday decorations this weekend? We put up the tree and a few lights outside. I somehow seem to accumulate more and more holiday items every year. That is par for the cours being a teacher. We tend to get quite a few decorations every year as gifts. Back to school tomorrow for 3 1/2 weeks and a lot of activity going on. That always makes the weeks go faster. The children as very wound up this time of year but we always manage to make it through. Well, I'm back. As you probably noticed I haven't posted in quite some time. For two reasons, I think I lost my mojo for stamping and I had alot going on. Last weekend I scrapped with my wonderful scrappin' buddies and that got me back in the swing of things. Now I plan on doing more cards and pages. Here is one I whipped together yesterday while we were waiting to go my brother's house for some turkey. Planning on doing more today. Yes, I am NOT going shopping, on this busiest shopping day of the year. The crowds are way too much for me and I'd rather pay the higher price than fight the crowds. It's Raining Again!!

Yep! Once again it's raining here in ChiTown. I thought this card would be appropriate for a day like today to post. We haven't had a great summer so far. It has either been raining or chilly. Now, I don't mind the chilliness but I'm sure the pools are hurtin' around here. Watch, it'll be scorching hot in August when we go back to school with no air conditioners. That's Murphy Law for you!! Anyway, this card is made all from SU paper, even the polkadot paper. The image is MFT and the flowers are Primas. I tried coloring in her raincoat but that didn't work out so well so then I paper pieced it together. It looks much better. You would think being a first grade teacher I would be good at coloring but I'm not with all these fancy markers and colored pencils I have. Maybe I should take Coloring 101 at the local college!! I have been trying really hard to use the stamp sets that I have and not buy any new ones right now. These surf boards are from TAC (which I had this set and haven't even used yet). It's a great stamp set for a boys card. The paper is all SU and I used my Cuttlebug to make the waves and the ribbon is from Target. Anyway, I'd love to be out catching some waves right now but we have had nothing but cool weather around here. Yesterday it rained all day but managed to stop for the fireworks. Yippee!! Back to some normalcy around here now that the holidays and graduation parties are all over. Before you know it school will be opening. Happy 4th of July eve! I feel like our 4th is over because the parade and fireworks were last night. We couldn't have had better weather. It was in the low 70's and NO humidity. Yippee!!

When I saw this stamp set at Archivers I just had to get it. I thought it was a riot. The set is from a company called the craft lounge. They had some other really cute sets, maybe I'll have to get them on my next visit. That's an excuse to get back there. I hope everyone enjoys the fourth of July weekend. We have a neighborhood parade and fireworks here on the 2nd of July. Can't figure out why the 2nd but will have a good time anyway. ...is my command. Isn't she adorable?! I made this card for my neice's birthday.However, I have a problem with it. I'm stuck. I think the card looks awfully plain on the right hand side. I tried putting flowers, more bling, sentiments and ribbons down that side but I just didn't like it. It takes away from the genie. Anyone have any suggestions of what I can do to it? Maybe just leaving it alone should be fine. Did you ever get stumped like this before on your cards? It's frustrating, isn't it? Anyway, I'll still play around with it before I have to send it out and see what I can come up with. Wish me luck. Well, off to more baseball games today. I just love this little guy! I made this card for my nephew's birthday, which is today. When I remembered I had this water paper I had to use it. I had better get on the ball and get it over to him. Well, today is going to be another hot and muggy day, 93 degrees they are saying. A great day for the pool. My son just went to football camp for a few hours. I don't know how they can do it in this heat. But he loves it. When he gets home then he has a baseball game tonight. Go figure! At least it keeps him out of trouble and with his friends. I know this is an unusual card for a get well, however, the person I am sending it to likes to wear her Harley Davidson sweatshirt to school when she subs in the upper grades just to scare the kids into behaving. Smart move huh?! I hope she likes it. The stamp is a Hanna stamp, the red paper is SU and the patterned paper is from a DCWV packet. The coloring isn't the best but the card turned out fine so I'm not going to worry about it.

Graduation Invites

Here are two different graduation invitations I made for Danny's party. His school colors are green and gold but to me those colors are so bright I decided to use these colors. I still do exist out here in blog country. School is over and I THINK I might have some more free time. However, I do have a graduate this year so we are planning on a party for him. That means painting, planting and lots of cleaning up of the house. Danny graduates from 8th grade this Monday, June 8th. I think I am more excited for him than he is. On to bigger and better things for him. My school year ended wonderfully. I had the best class ever this year and was sad to send them on. Our 8th graders at my school was my first class at this school and because of that I went to all their celebrations and had a blast with them. This is a fun time of the year.
This graduation card I made is for my neice who also graduated from 8th grade. Her school colors are purple and yellow so that is where I came up with the color scheme. Don't you just love the graduation Bella?! Now I have to get busy making thank you cards for some of my students.

I made this card a while ago and I'm just now getting around to posting it. I don't even know where the circle paper came from but it's one of my favorites. I just came in from a nice dinner up at my school. You see, our faculty hosts a thank you dinner to all the moms who volunteer at school. We make all the food and serve them. It's a nice night and they really appreciate it. Thank God for them. We could not do it without their help around the building. Did I mention 20 of the lunch mom volunteers just won the BIG raffle our school was having. They won $75,000!! How awesome! It was split 20 ways. It was nice to see the money spread out even though it would have been nice to win the whole thing (I tried, I bought several raffle tickets). Here's the prom pictures I promised. Casey is wearing the red dress. She went with my dear friend's son, Matt, who Casey grew up with. They had a blast. I'm the other one in the red (I'm partial to red). They were going to hook up with a big group of friends for group pictures but the other girl in this picture was so late they couldn't do that or they would be late and not let in to the prom. The pictures we took and theirs at the dance turned out great! Remember your prom days? Except for the clothes I think the rest of prom traditions have stayed the same. One can't have enough thank you cards on hand. I like to have a supply of them at school because once in a while I get a little gift from my little darlings (no I don't mean my own two kids) and this way I won't forget to thank them if I have these cards on hand. So, I think winter has returned to Chicago. We are supposed to get another 3 inches of snow tonight. I'm praying real hard the weather man was wrong. We haven't had snow for a while now and it's been great. But this is normal for this neck of the woods. One day it's in the 60's and the next day it's snowing, go figure!
Last night was prom night around here. Casey went to her junior prom and had a blast. As soon as I get some pictures on the computer I'll post one. I know it was early for prom but it was just a junior prom. The girls (and guys) looked so nice, but boy have the dresses changed since I went (as Casey say, "back in the day"). So this past week we had prom and we also got our drivers license. What a week! I don't know if I like this driving business yet. She seems to find any excuse to go out just to drive. Casey even offered to drive her brother to his friends house.

So, last night I found my mojo (finally). I had to make a bunch of thank you cards for my kids to send out. They each just had birthdays and Dan made his Confirmation ( I didn't expect him to receive any gifts). Now that the cards are made the next task is to get them to jot down a note in each one and send it out. That'll be the hardest part. Oh well! Now I'm off to my second job these days, bingo. Here is one of my favorite thank you stamps I have. I've used it quite a bit. The patterned paper is from Archivers (and my scrap drawer) the rest of the paper is SU. So, this is a big weekend here in Chicago. We have a huge Irish population here in Chitown so needless to say Let the Parades Begin!! Casey is in one of the parades with her marching band. Just a quick post today. I stayed home from school this week a few days so I was busy making cards. Here is one I paper pieced. Sometimes I think the image turns out better when you do it this way. I just the SU stamp set with all the different petals (I'm not sure the name of it). I borrowed it from a fellow stamper and this is what I came up with (so far). I decided to stamp a sentiment on the left side when I am ready to use it, I just couldn't decide what I wanted it for. The paper is SU riding hood red and the petals were stamped on paper from an Archivers pack. Anyway, on to more stampin'.
By the way, here in Chicago we were teased the last two weeks with some pretty good weather, 50's and 60's. However, yesterday was another story. We had another snow storm and more snow was dropped on us. ENOUGH WITH THE SNOW! Thank goodness we purchased a snowblower this past fall. Well, here is my last card I have made to post. I had better get busy stampin'. We are off school this Monday so I have plans to stamp with a friend of mine. Woo Hoo! So, if you are from Illinois then tomorrow is a special day around here. It is Abe Lincoln's 200 birthday. My school has many awesome activities planned for the day, including balloons all throughout the school. At 12:00 noon there will be bells ringing statewide. It's sort a cool. My class is really getting into Abe Lincoln and having a blast with fun facts about him. I know, I probably sound corny, but that's the teacher in me. Oh and by the way it's also my son's birthday tomorrow. He will be 14 and he has the "I'm so cool" attitude that goes along with it. Fun, huh?! Just a quick post today. It's been a long day and these old bones are heading to bed. Today was the 100th day of school and in first grade it's a BIG deal . Our children came to school dressed up like they were 100 years old. What a hoot!! You should have seen them, canes, walkers, housecoats and powder in their hair to make it look gray. We even had a visit by a 100 year old great grandma. Then we strolled through all the classrooms throught the school and a ton of fun 100 day activities in the afternoon. It was a blast and the children really enjoy the day. Now only 76 more days left.
This card isn't one of my favorites. The image is a fun one from MFT but I just don't like the colors or even the way it turned out. I thought I would post it anyway because I am running low again on cards. So, thanks for stopping by and a have a great rest of the week!!

A Sweet Treat

Here is my first Valentine card I made this year. The ice cream image is from a MFT stamp set.
The patterned paper is from DCWV and the red is riding hood red from SU. This card makes you want some ice cream, doesn't it?! Nope, not me! I would much rather have a bowl of popcorn, believe it or not. Don't get me wrong, I do like ice cream but it doesn't like me, so I just stay away from it. I guess it's not a terrible thing, huh! Well, the week is almost over. It's been so crazy at school. This was Catholic Schools Week so we don't have regular schedules and that really throws the kids off. Especially when they are out of uniform. The kids have a blast with all the extras planned but it's so good to get back to normal . Needless to say, Friday can't come soon enough. Here is one of my favorite SU sets. This guy is so funny! I colored him in with my prisma pencils but as you can tell I'm still not the best with hiding the lines. Go figure, a first grade teacher and she can't color well. who would have thunk!! At least I stayed in the lines. Anyway, the deep freeze is back. Today and tomorrow is supposed to be a high of 11. I know this is Chicago in the winter but it's getting old by now and we need some temps at least in the 30's . Oh well some day it will come. Last Thursday, while sitting and sulking about how cold it was outside (and my school was NOT called off for Friday) I decided to make a "warm" card. This is what I came up with. I'm not too sure where the stamp is from. The paper is from SU except the flower paper which is from DCWV. It did make me warm up a little. The freezing temps have warmed up a little. Today is a day off because of MLK. Thanks, MLK!! ...and certainly not the weather here in Chi Town. The temperatures have been -17 with wind chills -30 or so. Imagine that, you fellow bloggers who live in a warm place!! I think every school had called off for the last two days EXCEPT mine. Yep! We had to go in. So I warmed up my car for 20 minutes each day, bundled up and headed to the trenches. Thank goodness I have a wonderful class this year and I enjoy them. That did make it a little easier to go in. Today we are going to be in the 20's but the wind is already picking up. Sheeesh! I'm ready for summer(so I can complain about the heat(tehe). Anyway, here is another card I made for a friend. The stamp is a Bella, red riding hood paper from SU and the circle paper is from DCWV pack we were given at a scrap at Archivers. The good thing about this paper is that it's peel and stick. Just peel it off and stick it right on (but once it's down it's down, no adjusting). I feel like I have my mojo back so I plan on getting more stamping done this weekend so I have more to post. Cheers! What's there to cheer about? All the snow we've been getting around here. I feel like we truly live in the arctic. We have been having snowstorm after snowstorm since the beginning of December and now tonight and the next several days is supposed to be 20 to 30 degrees below zero. Unbelievable!! My first post of the new year and FINALLY something to post, woo hoo!! I made this card about 2 two weeks ago when I had five minutes to spare. I thought I would make a bunch of cards and use as gifts for some friends but that never happened, go figure!! This is a Hanna stamp, one of my favorites, mind you. The paper is SU, pixie pink and chocolate brown, the ribbon is from Target. Today I am hoping to get some stamping done with a good friend of mine, we both need to make thank you cards for the kids at school. So that is how I will spend my new years day. How about you? Let It Snow...

...but not here in Chicago, again. We just had 5 inches of snow yesterday and tomorrow we are in for an ice storm and then more snow over the weekend. Lovely, huh?! Anyway, this is my last Christmas card I made. And I just received 4 new sets of stamps from MFT that I ordered and I am anxious to get started with them. This is going to be a very busy weekend with my family Christmas party and several of my brothers and sisters flying in from all over, so I don't think there will be any stamping going on. School is out on Friday for two weeks and all I want to do is stamp, crazy, isn't it?!

Anyway, as many of you have already heard, one of our fellow bloggers and unbelievable stampers has passed away suddenly. Joanne, over at My Adventures in Cardmaking, passed away last Friday night. She is the one who introduced me to card making many years ago. The first class I went to with her as the consultant I kept telling myself I wasn't going to start stamping too. But low and behold she had us do the cutest fish card and I couldn't resist so I ordered my first set and it's been love ever since. Joanne was a part of our Stampin Diva group and every time we got together we laughed so hard and had a great time. We are sooooo going to miss her and her talent. I am still in shock every time I think of her. So, if you have an extra minute, please say a prayer for her family during this difficult time, especially since it's the holidays. I know they would really appreciate it and so would Joanne.

Frosty the Snowman

Here is a card I made a while ago. A friend of mine and I made cards one night and we had an assembly line going. Since we both wanted the same cards (and many of them) this was the easiest way to do it. We each ended up with 60 cards and 3 different kinds. Not a bad idea, huh!
Now, the job of getting them sent out, that's the hard part! I don't know about you, but we haven't received many cards so far. I'm sure that has a lot to do with our economy and the price of stamps these day. Crazy, isn't it. I'm going to give it a good try and get them out in the next few days. It's been crazy around here, with all the extra Christmas activities. This week will not be any better. Our Christmas concert at my school is Tuesday and another party on Wednesday and then our family party on Saturday, with many of my brothers and sisters coming in from out of town. I just love this stamp of Rudolph! This card was made with leftover paper from last year. Yes, I do keep all my Christmas leftovers together and save them. Wierd, I know!! Well, if you have been in Chicago lately you would be as cold as I am, not to mention snowed in so early in the year. We just had our first snowfall of the season and I already don't like it. Here is a card I made quite a while ago. The flower paper is from a pack from Archivers that they gave us at the last scrap. The back of the paper is peel and stick. Pretty cool, huh! So, did anyone find any real bargains yesterday that was worth getting up at the crack of dawn for? Not me! I was not about to do that and fight the crowds, not to mention the cold at 4 a.m. However, we did go to this cute little town, Geneva, Illinois. It has the best little specialty shops. If you are looking for something different I'm sure you will find it there. The best part of the day was when I came home and all the ourside lights were up. It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Well, here is the first Christmas card of the season I made. As a matter of fact, my friends were over last night and I made 30 of these and 30 of two other cards which I will be posting in the next several days. I made this original card at a Stampin' Diva night get together several weeks ago and I was waiting for now to post it. The little bling I used are just plain clear crystals and I use my markers to color them. Clever, huh! Anyway, now all I have to do is to be sure to send them out. I have become quite a card hog. I tend to make cards and forget to send them out and end up with a ton of cards. So, I vow to send these on their way(soon)! On another note, how was your Thanksgiving? I feel like I could just roll into bed and sleep for the whole winter. I ate enough to hibernate until spring. But I'm sure I'll be hungry (again) in the morning. Today started out with getting up at the crack of dawn and going downtown Chicago, Casey's band was in the Chicago Thanksgiving Day parade. Man was it cold down there! It was a blast though! Once we started marching you forgot how cold you really were. I can't believe the amount of people who also get up early to go see the parade. I sure hope her band does it again next year. A picture's worth a thousand words! How true! This picture is of my son and his teammates. Danny is number 44. His team was awesome this year. They didn't lose any games all season, they won their first playoff game and then lost the next playoff game and couldn't play in the championship game. That was a killer. However, the other teams were awesome too. It was his best season yet and being his eigth grade year and last grammar school year to play it was amazing. I really hate football because I don't know a thing about it but I really learned to like it this year. Hopefully he will play in high school and he does want to. As I write this now, he is at a football practice for an all star football game this Friday. His teammates voted for 3 boys to go and represent their team and Danny and number 4 and 20 were voted in. So one more game this weekend and then on to baseball. Anyway, thanks for looking and listening to me brag a little bit. Have a great rest of the week!!!

Another great stamp from the TAC company. They have some really cute ones for kids. I used my cuttlebug folder for this one and the Howdy stamp came from a MFT set. So, I hope everyone had a great Halloween. I can't believe the costumes kids wear now a days. Nothing like we did when we were kids (as Casey says, "Back in the Day!") Parents really go all out with the costumes. My favorite one was the cave man. It was a riot!! Anyway, on to Thanksgiving. Casey is marching in the Chicago Thanksgiving day parade, so of course I just had to volunteer to help out. It's so much fun being downtown Chicago at the parade on Thanksgiving day. I just love this Halloween stamp! I think it's a riot. It's from Stampendous. The paper is all left over from last year so I'm not sure who made it. Anyway, what is everyone going to be this year?! All the teachers on my floor at school are going to dress up like cowboys (I know it's a boring idea but coming from Chicago there are no cowboys around here). I managed to find a black leather vest with fringe on it and a purse with horses all over it, at the resale shop here. I totally embarrassed my daughter wearing it through the store. It was so funny. I guess I'm doing my job as a mom if I embarrass her. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great Halloween trick or treating with the kiddies. Try not to eat all the chocolate before you even get back home (I've been known to do that).

I know, I know! It's about time I post something. Everyone around school and some friends have been asking me what happened to my blog. So last night there was no football, band or anything else so I was on a roll stamping. I made several cards for the next few weeks to post. I also figured I had better get my Halloween cards up and running before it's Thanksgiving. So here I am, back to posting (and still going to football games and it's 50 degrees here and the wind is like a hurricane, won't that be a fun game to sit at???!!!) These stamps are from an SU set that I just love and don't own. I had to beg, borrow and steal this set from a friend.

Anyway, I think this is going to be a crazy week at school, what with Halloween and kids. I'm sure all the teachers out there know what I am talking about. My whole school dresses up, preschool thru 8th grade and even the teachers. We are going to be cowboys this year. Pretty simple costom to put together. So, how many Sarah Palin's do you think we'll all see this year?

HELLO!!

I AM still alive out here in blog land. As much as I like football and competition band season I will be glad when it is over. Tomorrow is Casey's last competition, but football is another story.
Danny's team has not lost a game and is going into playoffs next weekend. Maybe the championship after that. HOWEVER, Danny managed to break his wrist at practice on Thursday and will now be hanging out with the waterboys on the sidelines. It's pretty depressing because he is so into the season, he plays the whole game and they really count on him (he's the kicker and something else (I don't know my football positions)). This is his first sports injury ever, amazing!! On another note, I ask you for some extra prayers these days. My girlfriend's 16 year old son was in a car accident last weekend and is really broken up. They had to rebuild several vertebrae using hip bones and his sholder is also broken. He is wear a halo on his head. Matt is healing fine but the saddness and why me attitude has set in. I know he will be fine in the long run, but the long run is going to be a very long road. Any extra prayers you have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so very much.

It does feel like I have been gone forever. The truth is, I felt a little burnt out with making cards and scrapbooking. Ever since school started I feel like I can't catch up with everything (including sleep). The weekends fly by around here, with football games for Danny and all Casey's band competitions all over the city. Before you know it, it's Monday already and back to work. We just have to make it through October and then it should slow down around here. I'm sure there are alot of you out there in cyber world who feel the same. An oldie but a goodie! This birthday stamp is one of my first stamps I purchased and I'm still using it. Yipee! This one will never go out of style. The striped paper is from Archivers and the rest of the paper is SU. The ribbon is from Joanne Fabrics. Very simple card but nevertheless a card well done! Here's another monogram stamp from JustRite Stamps. I told you, they're great! There is so much you can do with them. Either stamp initials in the middle or another image. Whatever suits your fancy! Anyway, I just came from an awesome party we had with the faculty at school. I work with a great bunch of teachers. We laugh so hard every time we get together outside of school (do you think the drinks help that out?). Either way, we have a blast. Busy weekend coming up, working Bingo, mass in the park, first football came and maybe squeeze in lesson plans. Before you know it its time for school again on Monday morning. Did I mention that I have a great group of kids this year?! They are so sweet. The weather has gotten much cooler so we are able to get more work done. Another fun stamp from Hanna Stamps. I don't ride bikes nor does my husband, we don't even have an interest in motorcyclyes but I just loved this stamp! I colored it in with my Prisma pencils and Iknow! I could use a little more practice with them. Oh Well!! The striped paper and the red paper is both from the Archivers packet we received at their latest scrap. The yellow is barely banana and the blue is tempting turquoise. I already have someone in mind for this card. I hope everyone is having a great long weekend, I was super busy making cards yesterday and today I plan on getting a ton of school work done real early so I can stamp some more. I'm hoping to get a bunch of cards made so I have plenty to post for the next week or so. Once the weeks is here it's so hard to get any stamping done, with school, football, and band competitions. I sure don't remember running my parents ragged with all these activities when we were young (even with 11 children). I'm sure I just didn't see how busy they were , either that or they just threw in the towel by the time the last several of us came around (especially #9, that's me), LOL!! Monagram Set

Yesterday when I posted this card I didn't have any time to comment. So now I'm back. I was with our stampin' diva group last weekend and Lynda had the monogram set from Just Rite Stamps and I tried them out. They're awesome and of course I had to go home and order some for myself. As soon as they came this was the first card I made using it. It's nothing wonderful but I just love these monograms! The flower paper came from Archivers. They gave us a free package of paper at the last crop and this was in it. What's nice about the paper is that it already has adhesive on the back so it's ready to stick. You're probably wondering why I used the torquoise blue, well there is blue in the flower paper but you can't see it in the picture. I'm not color challenged (although, sometimes I think I am). So, I'm ready to get busy creating more monogram cards.
The weekend's here and I'm ready to stamp! What better time to stamp, it's going to be close to 90 degrees if not in the low 90's and I'm just not a heat person. Good excuse to stay in and stamp. By the way, Joanne, over at My Adventures in Cardmaking just awarded me an awesome award. Thanks, Joanne!! I am thrilled that my blog is being enjoyed by other fellow bloggers. Teen Scene

I know, I haven't posted lately. Well, I really don't have any new cards to post so I thought I would show you one of the pages I made this past weekend when we were are Archivers for an all dayer! This is of Casey and her girlfriends, who by the way, were throwing a surprise party for a boy friend of theirs. I don't even know if any other boys were there. They had a great time anyway. As I am looking at this picture I realized I forgot the journaling. I'm really not good at that part, maybe I should get Casey to do it. Anyway, this has been a long week and it's only Wednesday. School started Monday and I have a great bunch of kids. We are off school this Friday and Monday, Yipee!! So I'm hoping to get some stamping done. Horsin' Around

Well, I wasn't going to post this card at all but it is the only card I have right now. I have been really busy with school work and other things. This card was made for my neice who is in love with horses. The rolling stamp is an old SU stamp and the bigger horse I have no idea where it came from. It was in my daughter's junk drawers. Really simple card but as long as it had horses on it Julia loved it! And it was quick to make. Now I am back off to school to work some more in the room (the kids come on Monday) and of course the heat is back on. The last few weeks it was in the 70's around here and now the temps have creeped up into the 80's and 90's in the classrooms. Have a great rest of the week and hopefully I'll get some stamping done soon.

I just love these cards, they are easy to make and perfect for any gift card. The image is from MFT and all the paper is from SU. Well, I've been back to school already getting the room put together. I hear I am in for a great year with this group of kids. I've been told they are really sweet and there are only 19 (as compared to last years 28). I also think I am ready for fall. Danny has already started football practice and Casey is back to competition band. I think they both needed to get back into the swing of things. Sketch Challenge

I made this card for the sketch challenge by tamara. The designer paper came from the free pack you received if you spend $50 at Archivers several weeks ago. The paper pack is awesome. There is some really cute paper in it. I hope you didn't miss out on it! The stamp set is from MFT and the ribbon is also from Archivers. I think I have someone special in mind for this one. On another note, this is really my last week off of school before meetings start and the kids arrive. I am planning on going in tomorrow to start on my own but they are calling for weather in the middle 90's and we don't have air conditioning. So I may have to stay home and scrap or stamp. Isn't that ashame!! As much as I don't want school to start everyone around here is ready to get back into a routine. Including me. Casey starts band camp tomorrow and Danny starts football next week. Some of the other moms I talk to say the same thing about getting back into a routine. How about you?

The Happy Couple

We have a wedding to go to tomorrow so I made this card last night. I'm not really good at wedding cards so I found a layout similar to this one on Splitcoast (sorry, I can't remember whose it was). The stamps are from CTMH, which I bought a loooong time ago. I used my cuttlebug folder, the pink paper is regal rose, ribbon is from Joann's and I'm down to my last dew drops (which Michele gave me). Any idea where I can buy some more? It's hard to believe that my girlfriend, who is the same age as me (45) has a daughter that is getting married already. We met in a moms and tots group and her daughter was one of the tots. There is a funny coincidence about this wedding. Lisa is getting married on August 2nd, I got married on August 1st. Both weddings are at the same church and both honeymoons are in the Bahamas. The only difference is that our receptions are (were) at different places. Oh! and we are both teachers. What do you think about them apples!! Yep, today is our 21st anniversary, it sure doesn't feel like 21 years. We are just going out to dinner at one of my favorite places, Maggianos. If you have eaten there then you'll know why I love it so much. The food is unbelievable. Anyway, that's it for now, have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!!

Another MFT stamp. Isn't it a cute

one?! I haven't mastered the copics yet so I colored it in with my Prismas and SU watercolors. The paper is from DCWV winter packet. As I look at the picture I think the dog looks lopsided or is it just my eyes? Anyway, I can't believe July is just about over! You know what that means, school is just around the corner. My school starts on the 25th but I'll be in anytime after August 1st. I'm just not ready to go back yet. Is anyone else ready to go back? Don't you just love the stamp sets from MFT?! They are some of my favorites. I have a niece who is in love with horses (ask her what she wants to be when she grows up she say a cowgirl) so I bought this stamp so I can make her birthday cards with it. Anyway, if you haven't bought any stamps from MFT you might want to check into them. Or if anyone wants some images stamped I'll be glad to stamp some for you. To change the subject, we are taking the kids and their friends to Starved Rock National Park in Ottawa, Il. They have a huge lodge with indoor waterparks and an indoor amusement park as well as hiking trails along the Illinois river and lots of cute little shops. I just hope the waterparks aren't too babyish for my teenagers. After going to Wisconsin Dells and their waterparks we hope this one is just as much fun. Saturday is finally here. No baseball, no work, and it's raining out. What's a girl to do?! Stamp, I guess! It's the perfect kind of day for stamping. I made these two gift card holders for my stamping friends birthdays, Michele, and Debbie and Barb. I bought this stamp set from Pink Cat Studio just on purpose to use for our scrapping group. Stampin' Diva Challenge 4

What do you think?! This is our 4th challenge so far. We had to use any SU stamp and 3 embellishments with one being a ribbon. So I had to pull out my very first and one of my favorite SU sets I bought. If you don't have this set, Fishy Friends, you're missing out on a good one! Anyway, the paper is SU, ballet blue, always artichoke, the polka dot paper didn't have a name on it. I colored it in with my copics. The ribbon is from Micheals. This was a fun card to make, I may have to make more in different colors. Be sure to check out the other girls who also did this challenge, you can link on to them on my side bar under Stampin Divas. And finally, the weekend is here. I've been at my mom's helping her out all week and now I am ready for a scrap. What do you think of this image? Isn't she so cute?! Last week I took a ride out to this great little store in Lockport, Illinois called Stampin' Thyme. It has so many stamps in there you could be there all day looking. I found this one and just had to have her. She is from Great Impressions. The flower paper I made so long ago at a CTMH workshop and forgot I even had it. It went perfect (Ithink). I was really happy how this one turned out. Anyway, this was the only card I made this whole weekend and I had big plans to get a bunch done. Isn't that how it always happens? Well there is always tomorrow. More brown and pink combo. Lately I've been into the browns and pinks, or browns and blue and green. Don't ask me why. Anyway I'm not sure what company this parrot came from. This was one of the images I stamped at our stampin' diva club, where we bring any new stamps and share them. It's been a great way to get new images without buying them. (What am I say?! That doesn't stop me from buying them)! All the paper is from SU and the ribbon is also SU.
Well, the 4th of July is upon us already. Tomorrow our town has their annual parade and fireworks show and the best thing about it is that the fireworks are right across the street from my house.WOO HOO! It's a blast (no pun intended). Everyone and anyone comes over and sits on our front lawn for the show. The streets are blocked off so we tend to flow out into the street also. I set up a table and people bring snacks if they want and it a great time. The crowd seems to grow more every year. So, what is everyone else doing for the 4th? Hope it's a good one! I'm hoping to get more stamping done this weekend. I'm starting to get low again for posting. Anyway, have a great 4th and wonderful weekend!!

This stamp set was irresistable from TAC. I just get a kick out of the saying so I had to have it. As usual, all the paper is from SU and the ribbon is from Joannes. Gone Shopping!

Once again, another Hanna stamp. I get a kick out of this stamp because it reminds me so much of my daughter and her friends. They are always wanting to go to the mall for that item they just have to have. I stamped her dress on a piece of patterned paper and cut it out and pieced it on. Same goes for the packages. I've been into the greens and purples or blues together lately. It turned out pretty good. We just came back from the movies and I let my daughter drive all the way there and back. It's pretty nerve wrecking letting a teenager drive. My foot is always on the invisible break pedal on the passenger side. I'm sure some of you know what I mean if you've gone through drivers ed with your own kids before. Anyway, tomorrow is hump day so have a great rest of the week and thanks for stopping by!
